The HMA website is not only full of general information, but it also offers valuable resources for members, non-members, and yet-to-be members alike
If you are reading this article now, you are likely already a member. But you may know non-members who are not aware of the resources available to them. We invite you to share this issue with them so they can discover the many ways HMA is helping to grow and support this art form and our organization. In fact, the online edition of this issue will be open to the public as a sample of what they will receive quarterly when they join. You can share it at bit.ly/OT-Summer26.
Resources for Handbell Musicians by Category
When you first visit our website at HandbellMusicians.org, you will find several categories of resources available to the general public, including education, faith-based settings, solo ringing, and more. Additional categories are also on the way. We currently have a committee working to build resources for community ensembles.
Media
You’ll also notice a new media section. Here you will find videos, including our recent Composer Conversations, featuring talks with notable handbell composers, and our vintage Tempo Setters interviews, featuring many of the movers and shakers whose dedication and passion for the instrument helped build this art form and our organization into what they are today. Spoiler alert: Be on the lookout for new installments in the Tempo Setters series and other topical interviews in the months to come.
Events
Our site also includes an extensive event calendar featuring concerts, ringing and educational events, and more at the national, regional, state, and local levels. Both members and non-members are welcome to submit their own events for inclusion. Just open the Events drop-down menu and select “Submit an Event.”
Members-Only Resources
Click on Members Only in the top menu, and you’ll find even more resources for members, including the online edition of this journal. You can view and download back issues filled with learning, inspiration, and entertaining content. Each issue also includes a downloadable piece of music for use in a variety of settings.
During the recent overhaul of our website, we temporarily removed some of the other members-only resources, including videos and printable resources. We are currently working to update all of these and begin adding new ones.
We hope you will share this issue with a non-member and encourage them to explore what HMA has to offer. They may just discover a new resource, a helpful connection, or a reason to become part of a community that is dedicated to keeping this fascinating art form growing.
Our founders from more than 70 years ago, along with all those who have dedicated themselves to this art form and its principal organization, would be proud to see so many people still finding value in these resources. Even more, they would be proud of those who continue to help handbells grow, thrive, and ring into the future.
