I have been thinking a lot about resolutions lately. I previously shared I don’t believe in the desire to make a change being tied to a calendar.

By the time you are reading this, some of you have successfully established new habits, and some of us have been less successful. As we celebrate the one-year anniversary of Linda becoming the Executive Director of HMA and evaluate the growth of the past year, thoughts of resolutions have evolved to the small, but significant changes to our habits and mindsets that can help support Handbell Musicians of America.
- Engage with and share HMA social media posts to get the word out to more people.
- Support local handbell musicians by going to concerts and sharing about it on social media.
- Explore the exciting new website (coming soon!) and spread the word about the format and resources.
- Share area and national emails with your groups, friends, families, music educators, and curious musicians.
- Attend an online, local, area, or national event and invite a friend! Can’t go this time? Still spread the word, and let others know what is happening in the handbell world.
- Apply for an area or national scholarship or grant. If you don’t qualify, invite someone else to apply.
- Talk to the music educators in your life about the resources and opportunities HMA has for handbells in education.
- Share the area handchime lending programs with anyone looking to start a school, church, or community program.
- Use your voice not only to spread the word to others but within the organization to share your support, offer thoughtful feedback, and to vote in your area and national elections. Your voice and your vote matters!
- Get involved! Run for an area board, volunteer to be on a committee, or help with a specific event.
- Share the benefits of a Handbell Musicians of America membership and invite someone to join.
To grow our membership and find future handbell musicians, we can’t keep our organization, our work, or our passion to ourselves. Your voice makes a difference! Help spread the word and remember to vote in the upcoming elections for the National Board.
