I don’t believe in New Year’s resolutions. I do believe in setting goals, and I believe there is always an opportunity for growth. But I do not believe that change is tied to the calendar, and I certainly don’t believe that we are somehow desperately needing to change come January 1.

We can reset, refresh, or restart whenever we want and whenever we are ready. Handbell Musicians of America is ready, and while beginning a new chapter happens to coincide with the new year, our goals will not fizzle by the end of the month.
We are thrilled to welcome Linda Onorevole as our new executive director. With her non-profit and arts administration experience, Linda brings an enthusiasm and fresh perspective to our organization. She also brings a beautiful reverence for our artform and our history. Despite the challenges we continue to face with the pandemic, I am so excited for the year ahead.
In particular, I am looking forward to the International Handbell Symposium this summer in Nashville. This is a unique and wonderful opportunity to ring and connect with handbell ringers from around the globe under the baton of some amazing conductors. I hope to see you in Nashville!
As Linda transitions into her new position, I wish to express my deepest gratitude to Ed Rollins. Ed stepped up and into the role of interim executive director at a time when HMA needed him most. Shortly after accepting the appointment, life suddenly came to a halt due to the pandemic. Ed has worked above and beyond what we ever could have asked or expected to help keep the organization not only afloat but moving forward. His creative, collaborative, and sometimes difficult decisions have perfectly set the stage for the next chapter of Handbell Musicians of America. Please join the board and me in thanking Ed for all he has done over the past two years.
I also wish to thank our amazing HMA staff. We would not be who we are without the amazing talents of JR, Marie, Vicki, Mya, Kim, and Brian, each of whom took on new roles and responsibilities during the interim. Thank you!
As always, the board is here to listen. Whether it is at an event, online at Handbell Happy Hour, or via email ([email protected]), we look forward to hearing from you and writing this new chapter of Handbell Musicians of America together
